MailerLite is one of the most affordable email marketing tools in the world. But “affordable” doesn’t mean “no surprises.”
There are things about MailerLite’s pricing that most reviews don’t tell you. Which features are locked behind the paid plan. What happens when you go over your subscriber limit. Which discounts actually stack — and which ones don’t. What you have to pay extra for on top of your monthly plan.
I’ve gone through every plan, every pricing tier, every discount, and every hidden cost so you don’t have to figure it out the hard way.
This is the complete, honest guide to MailerLite pricing in 2026.
Let’s get into it 👇
MailerLite Pricing at a Glance
MailerLite has four plans. Here’s the simple version before we go deep on each one:
| Plan | Monthly Price | Subscribers | Emails |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 500 | 12,000/month |
| Growing Business | From $10/month | Up to 500+ | Unlimited |
| Advanced | From $20/month | Up to 500+ | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Custom | 100,000+ | Unlimited |
Key difference from Mailchimp: MailerLite only charges you for active subscribers. If someone unsubscribes, bounces, or leaves your list — they stop counting toward your limit immediately. You never pay for dead contacts.
The Free Plan: What You Actually Get
What the Free Plan Includes
MailerLite’s free plan is one of the more useful free plans in email marketing — but it took a hit in September 2025 when the subscriber limit was cut from 1,000 to 500.
Here’s exactly what you get for $0:
- Up to 500 active subscribers
- Up to 12,000 emails per month (about 24 sends to your full list)
- 1 user seat — only you can access the account
- Drag-and-drop email editor ✅
- Rich-text editor ✅
- Automation builder ✅
- Basic segmentation ✅
- Sign-up forms and pop-ups ✅
- Up to 10 landing pages ✅
- 1 website ✅
- A/B testing ✅
- E-commerce integrations (Shopify, WooCommerce) ✅
- Surveys and quizzes inside emails ✅
- 24/7 email support for the first 30 days only — after that, knowledge base only
What the Free Plan Does NOT Include
This is where most people get tripped up. The free plan is missing some features that most email marketers consider basic:
- ❌ Email templates — you start from a blank canvas every time
- ❌ Landing page templates — same issue
- ❌ MailerLite branding removal — every email has a MailerLite logo in the footer
- ❌ Custom domain for emails
- ❌ Auto-resend to non-openers
- ❌ Promotional pop-ups
- ❌ Facebook Custom Audiences sync
- ❌ Multiple automation triggers (only one trigger per automation)
- ❌ Custom HTML editor
- ❌ AI writing assistant
- ❌ Live chat support (email support for 30 days only)
The 14-Day Premium Trial
When you first sign up for MailerLite — even on the free plan — you get a 14-day free trial of all paid features. This means you can test templates, AI tools, unlimited landing pages, and everything else before committing to a paid plan.
After 14 days, your account drops back to the free plan limits unless you upgrade.
“The free plan is perfect for anyone venturing into email marketing or with a small monthly email volume. It comes with critical features like landing pages and an email automation builder.” (EmailVendorSelection)
“The 500-subscriber limit is a lot lower than other free email marketing services, so it’s likely you’ll need to upgrade sooner rather than later.” (EmailTooltester)
Is the Free Plan Worth Using?
Yes — but only if you have fewer than 500 subscribers and you’re genuinely just starting out. The lack of templates means every email takes longer to design. And the 30-day support window means you need to be fairly self-sufficient.
For anyone who’s been emailing for a while or has a list approaching 500 people — the Growing Business plan at $10/month is worth it.
Growing Business Plan: Who It’s For and What It Costs

When Does the Advanced Plan Make Sense?
According to EmailTooltester’s March 2026 analysis, the Advanced plan makes economic sense for businesses with over 10,000 subscribers that need multiple team members accessing the platform. Before that point, Growing Business covers most needs.
Specifically, upgrade to Advanced if you need:
- More than 3 people accessing the account
- Multiple automation triggers in one workflow
- Facebook ad audience syncing
- The AI writing assistant
- Promotional pop-ups
- Custom HTML email editor
- Priority support response times
“The Advanced plan is a bit more pricey, but you get advanced features, more support, and more users. After 50,000 subscribers, you can choose between Advanced or Enterprise.” (EmailVendorSelection)
“Plans start at $20/month for 500 subscribers. With Advanced you can sync segments to Facebook, discover look-alike audiences, and get writing suggestions from the AI assistant.” (EmailVendorSelection)
Enterprise Plan: What Is It and Who Needs It?
What the Enterprise Plan Is
The Enterprise plan is a completely custom solution. There’s no fixed price — you contact MailerLite directly and they build a plan based on your specific needs.
Who It’s For:
The Enterprise plan is designed for businesses with 100,000+ subscribers that need more than what the Advanced plan offers.
What Enterprise Typically Includes:
- Custom subscriber limits and sending volume
- Dedicated Customer Success Manager
- Dedicated sending IP address — useful if you send more than 50,000 emails per week and need full control over your sender reputation
- Custom onboarding and migration support
- Priority support with a named account contact
- Custom integrations if needed
- Service Level Agreement (SLA) — guaranteed response and uptime commitments
- Advanced security controls
- Single Sign-On (SSO) for large teams
How to Get Enterprise Pricing
Contact MailerLite directly through their website. Their sales team will ask about your subscriber count, sending volume, team size, and any specific feature needs — then build a custom quote.
Do You Actually Need Enterprise?
Most businesses don’t. If you have under 100,000 subscribers, the Advanced plan covers almost everything. The main reasons to consider Enterprise are:
- You need a dedicated IP for reputation control
- You need a named account manager for strategic support
- You have compliance or security requirements that need custom solutions
- You’re managing email marketing for multiple brands at massive scale

Monthly Billing

Best for: People who want flexibility while testing the platform or aren’t sure how long they’ll use it.
Annual Billing
Pay for 12 months upfront and get 10% off the monthly rate. The discount is applied immediately.
Best for: Anyone who knows they’ll use MailerLite for at least a year. The saving adds up:
| Plan | Monthly Cost | Annual Cost (per month) | Annual Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growing Business (500 subs) | $10 | $9 | $12/year |
| Growing Business (5,000 subs) | $39 | $35 | $48/year |
| Growing Business (10,000 subs) | $73 | $65 | $96/year |

Switching Between Plans
You can switch to a higher plan at any time — the upgrade takes effect immediately and you’re charged the prorated difference.
Switching from annual to monthly billing: the change doesn’t happen until your current annual plan expires.
Switching from monthly to annual: effective immediately as soon as checkout is complete.
What Happens If You Downgrade?
If you downgrade from Advanced to Growing Business, or from any paid plan to the free plan, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access to your current plan features until then.
Discounts: Nonprofit, Referral, and Affiliate
Nonprofit Discount — 30% Off
MailerLite offers a 30% discount on all paid plans for registered nonprofits. This applies to both Growing Business and Advanced plans.
To get the discount:
- During signup, indicate that you are a nonprofit
- Contact MailerLite support via live chat or contact form
- Submit official proof of nonprofit status within 14 days — accepted documents include IRS tax-exemption letters (US), government registration documents, or equivalent in other countries
Important rules:
- The 30% nonprofit discount and the 10% annual billing discount cannot be combined — you choose one or the other
- The discount is applied manually by the MailerLite support team after verification
- MailerLite also runs a “pay-it-forward” program that selects approximately 60 nonprofits per year to receive a completely free 2-year Advanced plan — you can apply for this through their website
What the nonprofit discount actually saves:
| Plan | Regular Price | After 30% Discount |
|---|---|---|
| Growing Business (500 subs) | $10/month | $7/month |
| Growing Business (5,000 subs) | $39/month | $27.30/month |
| Advanced (500 subs) | $20/month | $14/month |
| Advanced (5,000 subs) | $60/month | $42/month |
Referral Program
MailerLite has a referral program. When you refer someone to MailerLite and they sign up, both you and the referred user can earn account credits or discounts. Check your account dashboard for your personal referral link and current referral rewards.
Affiliate Program
MailerLite also has an affiliate program for bloggers, reviewers, and marketing professionals who want to earn a commission by recommending MailerLite. Affiliates earn a recurring commission for every paying customer they refer. Sign up through the MailerLite affiliate page.
Hidden Costs: What You Pay Extra For
This is the section most pricing guides skip. Here are the things you might need that are NOT included in any MailerLite plan — and what they cost separately.
Transactional Emails — MailerSend
MailerLite’s marketing plans only cover marketing emails — newsletters, campaigns, automations. They do NOT include transactional emails.
Transactional emails are the automated one-to-one messages your app or website sends — things like:
- Order confirmations
- Password reset emails
- Shipping notifications
- Receipt emails
- Account verification emails
For transactional emails, MailerLite has a completely separate product called MailerSend. It’s built by the same team but has its own pricing:
| MailerSend Plan | Price | Emails Included |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3,000 emails/month |
| Starter | $28/month | 50,000 emails/month |
| Professional | Custom | 100,000+ emails/month |
If you run an e-commerce store or any web app that sends receipts or system emails, you need MailerSend on top of your MailerLite plan. Budget for both.
Extra Users on Growing Business
The Growing Business plan only comes with 3 user seats. If your team has more than 3 people who need account access, you need the Advanced plan — which comes with unlimited users. There’s no option to add extra seats à la carte on Growing Business.
Custom Domain for Emails
Setting up a custom sending domain (so your emails come from yourname@yourdomain.com instead of a MailerLite domain) requires you to own a domain and access your DNS settings. The domain itself costs money through your registrar — GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc. MailerLite doesn’t charge for the domain connection itself, but you do need a domain.
Google Workspace — 15% Discount
MailerLite doesn’t include email hosting. If you want a professional business email address — like hello@yourbusiness.com — you need a separate service like Google Workspace. MailerLite offers a 15% discount on Google Workspace for Advanced plan users, but the cost of Google Workspace itself is separate.
Google Workspace pricing (before discount): starts at $6/user/month. After 15% MailerLite discount: $5.10/user/month.
Dedicated IP Address
If you send very large email volumes and want your own dedicated IP — so your sender reputation is completely separate from other MailerLite users — this is only available on the Enterprise plan at custom pricing. It’s not available as an add-on on Growing Business or Advanced.
MailerLite vs Competitors: How the Pricing Compares
Here’s how MailerLite stacks up against the tools most people compare it with:
At 500 Subscribers:
| Tool | Price | Key Difference |
|---|---|---|
| MailerLite (Growing Business) | $10/month | Templates, unlimited sends |
| Mailchimp (Essentials) | $20/month | Only 500 contacts, limited automation |
| Brevo (Starter) | $9/month | Unlimited contacts but volume-based |
| Moosend | $9/month | Full automation included |
| Kit (Creator) | $39/month | Advanced creator features |
At 5,000 Subscribers:
| Tool | Price | Key Difference |
|---|---|---|
| MailerLite (Growing Business) | $39/month | Clean editor, templates, automation |
| Mailchimp (Standard) | $130/month | More integrations, e-com depth |
| Brevo (Business) | $25/month | Multi-channel, unlimited contacts |
| Moosend | $48/month | E-commerce automation |
| Kit (Creator) | $89/month | Creator monetization tools |
At 10,000 Subscribers:
| Tool | Price | Key Difference |
|---|---|---|
| MailerLite (Growing Business) | $73/month | Best all-round value |
| Mailchimp (Standard) | $175/month | 2.4x more expensive |
| Brevo (Business) | $35/month | Email-volume pricing is cheaper |
| Kit (Creator) | $139/month | Better creator tools |
The Key Advantage MailerLite Has Over Mailchimp
MailerLite only charges for active subscribers. Mailchimp charges for unsubscribed and inactive contacts too. This means:
- On MailerLite: 10,000 subscribers = pay for 10,000
- On Mailchimp: 10,000 subscribers + 2,000 who unsubscribed + 500 duplicates = pay for 12,500
Over time, this difference gets bigger and bigger — and costs Mailchimp users real money every month.
“MailerLite doesn’t charge you for unsubscribed contacts. Only active contacts count toward billing.” (Moosend analysis)
What Happens When You Go Over Your Subscriber Limit?
This is something every MailerLite user should know before it happens.
On the Free Plan
When your active subscriber count goes over 500 — your sending is locked. Campaigns and automation stop going out. You get a prompt to upgrade to a paid plan, or you need to manually remove subscribers to get back under 500.
This can happen unexpectedly if you have a good week of sign-ups. Plan ahead — if you’re approaching 500 subscribers on the free plan, start thinking about upgrading.
On Paid Plans
When your subscriber count exceeds your current plan limit, MailerLite automatically bumps you to the next pricing tier and charges your card for the difference.
You receive a notification inside your account when you’re close to the limit — so you’re not completely caught off guard. But the charge happens automatically, so make sure your billing card is up to date.
For example: if you’re on the Growing Business plan at the 5,000-subscriber tier ($39/month) and your list grows to 5,001 — you’re automatically moved to the 10,000-subscriber tier ($73/month) and charged accordingly.
Your subscriber count resets monthly on your billing anniversary date. So if you delete subscribers on April 1st and your billing date is April 5th, those subscribers still count until April 4th.
“Your subscriber count resets once a month on your billing anniversary, based on the date of your first plan purchase.” (MailerLite pricing FAQ)
How to Avoid Unexpected Upgrades
- Clean your list regularly — remove inactive subscribers before your billing date
- Keep an eye on your subscriber count in the dashboard
- Set up re-engagement campaigns to identify and remove cold subscribers before they inflate your count
- Consider annual billing — it locks your price and avoids month-to-month tier jumps
Is MailerLite Worth the Price?
Let me give you the honest answer.
Yes — for most small businesses and creators, MailerLite is genuinely good value.
Here’s why:
- You pay for active subscribers only — no ghost billing like Mailchimp
- Unlimited emails on all paid plans — no monthly send caps
- Digital product sales with 0% commission — no Gumroad fee on top
- The editor wins awards every year for being the easiest to use
- Support is consistently excellent even on lower plans
- The price is significantly lower than Mailchimp at every list size
The honest limitations:
- The free plan drop from 1,000 to 500 subscribers in September 2025 was a disappointment — especially for people who rely on free tools to start
- Templates being locked behind the paid plan is frustrating — starting from a blank canvas every time on the free tier slows you down
- The 30-day support limit on the free plan means beginners who need the most help get the least of it
- Advanced automation features — multiple triggers, pre-built templates — require the Advanced plan at $20/month minimum
Is it worth it compared to Mailchimp?
Almost always yes. MailerLite gives you more features at a lower price — and doesn’t charge you for contacts who left your list years ago.
Is it worth it compared to Brevo?
Depends on your use case. Brevo’s email-volume pricing is often cheaper for businesses with large lists that don’t email constantly. But MailerLite has a better editor, better templates, and better support.
Final Verdict: Which MailerLite Plan Should You Choose?
Choose the Free Plan if:

- Your list has grown past 500 subscribers
- You want professional-looking emails with templates
- You want to remove MailerLite branding from your emails
